Teacher Bio

Lake Eden Rock
I am excited to be teaching in the Special Education Department at Owen High School for my third year.  I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1983) and more recently my Master's Degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University (2013).  I taught students with autism in Henderson County Schools from 1990-1995 and then worked with the Autism Society of North Carolina for 16 years as Regional Director and Training Specialist.  I loved my time with the Autism Society but ultimately missed teaching so found my way back to the classroom.
I have lived in Western North Carolina for the past 28 years and enjoy running and hiking on trails with my dog, Buck.
