Foods 1 - Fundamentals
This course emphasizes basic skill development. Students develop a basic understanding of the importance of food, resource management, food preparation skills, organizing a kitchen, selecting and preparing food and how to relate proper food choices to good health and disease prevention. Proper techniques for selecting
and preparing a variety of foods will be explored through hands-on
applications. Students gain skills that will prepare them to be healthy
individuals and better consumers, citizens and workers.
Due to a lab environment, health insurance is strongly recommended.
Foods 2 - Enterprise
This
course specializes in student becoming ServSafe Certified. This
certification is beneficial to any student looking to follow a career
into the culinary world. This course also focuses on aspects of running a successful business. This class
will make a mock business and sell products to our school and
community. This class also focuses on sports and health nutrition as well as Farm to Table and Global cuisine.
