Course Information

In English II students read narratives, poems, and persuasive texts.  Students identify literary devices and determine how the author used those devices to convey his/her message; students are encouraged to think like a writer.  Students also construct poems, paragraphs, and essays; the main goal is to use evidence and elaboration to support a claim or to demonstrate an understanding of a concept.  Students also learn the conventions of Standard English and apply them to their writing.
