Hi! My name is Andi Stewart and I am a Black Mountain native, a mother of four, and an 1988 Owen graduate as well! Some of my favorite hobbies include spending time with family, reading, writing, jogging, hiking, biking, spending time in nature (especially the woods or the beach!), SCUBA diving, and listening to music, just to name a few. I answered the call to teach in high school and pursued this career at Appalachian State University. Teaching remains an ongoing passion and challenge I take very seriously.
I started teaching at Freedom High School in January 1997 and joined the Owen staff in August 2000. I find that Owen is truly an amazing school filled with remarkable teachers, students, and diverse opportunities for all. In our English department we teachers are devoted to providing innovative and interactive opportunities as we believe proficient reading and writing skills are paramount to student success! I primarily teach sophomores and seniors, but occasionally teach freshmen as well. I enjoy the curriculum at all levels and especially enjoy guiding seniors through work on the Graduation Project. Seniors should access my English IV moodle for handouts and further information regarding the Graduation Project. Students and parents should feel free to contact me at any time with questions or comments and again, welcome to my classroom!
