1) Vocabulary Words in Context Lesson II

      We underlinded context clues and defined words using context clues (see Ms. Rookey for handout)

2) Grammar notes on subjects and the three types of verbs. Practice in pairs

3) Identifying the theme of work and supporting it with textual evidence activity

       Graphic Organizer

 

Graphic Organizer must be turned in on Tuesday. Any one with missing or incomplete assignments will be required to attend SMART lunch tutoring on Wednesday, SMART LUNCH B

I was absent today and we had student assemeblies. When we weren't in the assembly, students worked on finding words using context clues. They also competed a non-fiction passage analysis and quiz. See Ms. Rookey for the passage and quiz.

*Notes: Today classes were an hour long due to the two-hour dealy. 1st period completed the Agenda for today. 3rd period received the notes on annotation (see 1/27 for link) and have not begun to read the poem yet. Tommorrow both classes will be in sync with each other.

1) Complete bio poem and share one line on class poem

2) Discussed notebook requirements. Notebook should have four sections: vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing.

3) Discussed notes on annotation and notes on literary terms

4) Began reading the poem "The Journey"

 

Note: 3rd period today had not had a chance to write the bio poem, so we wrote it and presented the class poem. They did not get items three and four on the agenda today.
