Teacher Bio

Welcome to my Classroom
Amy Hobbs
Lake Eden Rock
I am excited to be back in the Special Education Department here at Owen High School for my second year.  I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and more recently my Master's Degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University.  I taught students with autism in Henderson County Schools from 1990-1995 and then worked with the Autism Society of North Carolina for 16 years as Regional Director and Training Specialist.  I loved my time with the Autism Society but ultimately missed teaching so found my way back to the classroom.
I have lived in Western North Carolina for the past 24 years and enjoy running and hiking on trails with my furry dog, Buck.
