All about Señora Haffey:
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I love the outdoors and am at home on the lake. I don't mind the cold weather, but I have fallen in love with the temperate climate in Asheville. I have a degree in Spanish and Education K-12 from the College of St. Benedict, which is located in St. Joseph, MN.
I learned Spanish by living in Quito, Ecuador. I studied for a year at La Universidad de San Fransisco de Quito. My husband and I have also had the privilege to travel to and/or live in Guatemala, Spain, Morocco, Holland, The British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Honduras. It goes without saying that we love exploring new cultures and value how they enrich our lives.
This is my 21st year teaching, my 11th in Buncombe County. This year I teach Spanish I and II. I love teaching at the high school level, and I am very excited for another year at Owen High School! I have an open door policy. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns at any time. I look forward to an exciting year as an Owen Warhorse!
