Welcome to Family & Consumer Sciences
Charlotte Elliott
1st  block planning
I am a Family & Consumer Sciences teacher here at Owen High School.
I teach Apparel 1&2, Housing & Interiors 1&2.  I have been teaching in public school since 1995 & have taught every subject in FACS except for Culinary Arts. I graduated from East Carolina University and am National Board Certified.
This is my 7th year teaching in Buncombe County. After teaching Foods & Nutrition for 2 years at Community High School, I was given the opportunity to teach Apparel & Interiors at Owen. I am very excited to come back to my passion of design & sewing. I began teaching FACS in 1995 in Wilmington, NC.  I love interior design, sewing and creating things that are one of a kind. I have decided that I am truly happy when I am creating something.  Other hobbies that I have are travel, technology, studying different cultures and people in general.
I am married to William Elliott.  We have two daughters, and 2 beautiful granddaughters. (my grandma name is Queenie)
I was in the US Peacecorps in Jamaica after graduating from ECU & then taught on a Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico. I've taught art in a private middle school and PE in a Dept. of Defense middle school. I have been the advisor for many different clubs including International club & ball hockey coach!! Placing high school foreign exchange students since 1989 has given my husband and I many "daughter"s around the world. We have visited many countries and want to visit more.
I forgot to mention one of the most relevant passions that I have: teaching and listening to teenagers. That's why I am here; to contribute to the total education of our students.
