I grew up in the mountains of South West Virginia and graduated from Blacksburg High School, in Blacksburg, Virginia. Afterwards, I attended Virginia Tech where I received two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Psychology and one in Studio Art. I received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from Radford University, in Radford, Virginia, and earned my teaching license in Art education from Mary Baldwin College, in Staunton, Virginia.
My teaching career began in Montgomery County, Virginia where I worked as a substitute teacher for a semester in the Spring of 2010. That fall, I moved to Galax, Virginia to work as the art teacher at Galax Elementary School. After teaching at G.E.S. for four years, I moved to Asheville with my husband and two dogs to become the art teacher at Charles D. Owen High School.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy kayaking, running, hiking, biking, and cheering for the Virginia Tech Hokies.
